Race - How does it affect a person's identity?

I think for people, your race and heritage tells you where you belong almost. It helps you feel like you should know where you fit in and who you should hang out with and such. Personally, though I don't think it should matter because it doesn't define you. Your personality should define you, not your skin tone. Yet, for James because he is mixed and is black while having a white mother he is uncertain of where he fits in or belongs. He is uncertain of who he can hang out with or what in his eyes is socially acceptable or not. I think his biggest struggle is trying to figure out who he is due to being mixed.  The thing I don't understand about this and maybe if I was mixed I would, I don't know, but why doesn't he base himself and who he fits in with and who he wants to be based on his personality not his family, or his skin tone, or his heritage because those aren't him. He is who he wants and chooses to be, and while he can't change his skin tone, it shouldn't become his identity.

The Color of Water: Soundtrack

I love music a lot and 'The Color of Water', has so much in it that can be put to music. I am doing this by chapters and am only doing a few random ones.

Chapter 1: Dead

*Warning: This song contains the D word.
I picked this song because it is talking about someone trying to find where they belong and going with random people to find it.
Chapter 2: The Bicycle

Chapter 3: Kosher

This chapter talks about Ruth's family so that's why I picked it.

Chapter 4: Black Power

This chapter is about Ruth trying to teach the kids that color and race isn't important so that's why I picked this song.

Chapter 6: The New Testament

I chose this song because this chapter is about Ruth's faith and church.
Chapter 7: Sam

Sam is Ruth's brother so here's a song about brothers
Chapter 8: Brothers and Sisters

This song is about having too much food but since James' family didn't have enough I figured this song could be good irony.

Chapter 13: New York
This song is about being a part of New York so it fits the chapter.

I hope you enjoy! :)

Why was 'The Color of Water' written?

I think that 'The Color of Water' was written so that people would understand James McBride's life and his mother and how even though through all these struggles she faced in life she was still a successful woman who went on with her life though she had these issues.

It is a very emotional and touching story and it's great!

Magic of the Moonlight by Ellen Schreiber

This book is a fantasy book about a girl named Celeste who is in love with a boy named Brandon. She can't tell her friends though cause he is not popular and cause he is a werewolf. I have just started this book and am only half-way through but it's amazing. I think anyone who likes romance, mystery, and danger should read this!

Cryptic Cravings

This book is by Ellen Schreiber and it was amazing! It is the eighth book in the Vampire Kisses series and it still is amazing. Unlike most books, where they start to drag on at this point in the series, Ellen Schreiber does a fantastic job of making sure the book is still enticing and intriguing.

The link above has an overview of the book and the book cover. In the overview it tells you about the plot of Raven and Alexander, a couple in which he is a vampire yet she a mortal, are out to try to stop his ex-nemesis from building a potentially dangerous club. This book has action, romance, and is a superb read!

I think anyone who enjoys romance, vampires, action, and anything gothic would enjoy this book.

If Sweet Shadows were a movie!

This book is fantastic and I loved it! I am finished with it and was thinking what if it was a movie though? It isn't so if I were a casting director here are the people I would pick to play the roles: These are just famous celebrities and not all are actors and actresses but most are.

Gretchen: Taylor Momsen
Grace: Amanda Seyfried
Greer: Dakota Fanning

Nick: Riker Lynch
Milo: Vic Fuentes
Kyle: Luke Hemmings

Thane:
Grace's Mom: Julia Roberts
Grace's Dad: Ben Affleck

Greer's Mom: Idina Menzel
Greer's Dad: Ben Stiller

Stheno: Michelle Pfeiffer
Euryale: Dedee Pfeiffer

These are just some of the main characters but I think these people would fit these parts well! :)

You can find all these people except for Vic Fuentes on www.IMDB.com
You can find Vic Fuentes on www.Google.com if you type in his name or the band, Pierce the Veil.

Soundtrack for Sweet Shadows

Everyone loves music! Yet what if a book had a soundtrack?

I am still reading Sweet Shadows by Tera Lynn Childs and I really like it! It has a lot of action and romance and suspense and best of all, Greek Mythology! So I think I can find a certain soundtrack of songs that will fit a lot of the scenes in this book so here it is.

1. There are three sisters who are the descendants of the gorgon sisters, as in Medusa, Stheno, and Eurayle. The girls names are Greer, Grace, and Gretchen. Gretchen is fierce, Greer is stubborn, and Grace is all too sweet but together they work well, so the song I would have to describe this is, Perfect Two by Auburn.

2. Also, there are three guys in the story that they have something romantic going on with each of them. Kyle a stupid surfer dude kind of guy with light blue eyes and blonde sun tanned hair is for Greer.
Nick a descendant of Themis the goddess of justice and law is there to protect them and has a crush on Gretchen and she finds his dark navy blue eyes and dark blonde hair adorable but is trying to avoid his pursuits for a while. While Grace has Milo, a cute Italian guy with mint green eyes and dark curls.
Kyle ends up cheating on Greer and a song for that is, Should've said no by Taylor Swift:
Also Gretchen finally starts to fall for Nick but doesn't want to admit it so a song for that is I won't say I'm in love from Disney's Hercules:
And Grace and Milo are getting along well but there are so many complications so the song for them would be, Crazy by Hunter Hayes:

3.  There are a lot of monsters in this book cause the girls are monster-hunters so two songs to fit this would be Monster by Rihanna and Eminem and Disturbia by Rihanna

I think this soundtrack would be awesome!

Sweet Shadows by Tera Lynn Childs

                                           http://www.epubbud.com/book.php?g=PNBXZ2E7

This article talks about the three main girls who you learned more about in the first book, but anyways, they are descendants of Medusa and are sisters and are now fighting to keep order in the mortal world in which they live. One of them has been fighting monsters to keep the peace, most of her life while the other two are pretty new at it. It also talks about Thane, one of the girls adopted brothers who has disappeared and may know about the girls heritage and may be able to help them.
